The root cause of narcolepsy type 1 is due to a signal loss in your brain, but what does that look like for those who live with the condition?
In a 360 campaign, we used real patients to show the world what it takes to live with a rare, chronic, sleep disorder in which the boundary between sleep and wake is always blurred. Our goal with the campaign was to educate on the underlying loss of a brain chemical called orexin that causes narcolepsy type 1. Since orexin also regulates muscle control, mood, and attention, we aimed to show people that this disease is much more than falling asleep at random times, it can affect every aspect of your life.
TV Spots
Using real patients with narcolepsy type 1, I developed scripts to reflect their individual stories. The goal of the spots was to demonstrate what it’s like to live with a constant signal loss, without being able to reboot.
Social
Using popular TikTok trends from Candy Salad Trauma Dump, to a classic Get Ready With Me video, our patient ambassadors were able to express what narcolepsy type 1 truly takes.
